Pixar’s Soul Skips Cinemas And Goes Straight To Disney+
Disney and Pixar’s next blockbuster – Soul – is the latest movie to forgo the cinemas in favour of a Disney Plus exclusive release. However, unlike Mulan, the film will be available to subscribers of the platform at no extra cost.
The film will be a Christmas treat, debuting on 25 December 2020. If you’re not yet signed up for Disney Plus, it costs £5.99/US$6.99 per month for a rolling subscription, or £59.99/$69.99 per year, and you can sign up on the Disney Plus website.
Soul follows Joe Gardner, a middle-school band teacher who gets the opportunity to perform at a renowned jazz club. However, a misstep leads him into The Great Before, a mystical place where new souls gain their personalities. Joe must team up with a precocious soul called 22 to return to his own life on Earth.

The Pixar animated film stars the voices of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Angela Bassett and Daveed Diggs – and is created by Pete Docter, the directed behind Up and Inside Out. It also features completely original jazz music from Jon Batiste.
