Jabra Unveils Elite 85t with Advanced Active Noise Cancellation

Jabra has unveiled its latest flagship wireless earbuds and hopes to take on the big guns like Sony and Bose. The Elite 85t come with Advanced Active Noise Cancellation inside a compact design to win you over.

Although it might not have the same brand power of its rivals, Jabra’s latest true wireless earbuds do look like they have a shot at being among the best pairs you can buy. They will be available in selected retailers from November 2020 with a price of £219.99/US$229.

The headline feature here is Jabra’s Advanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) combined with a semi-open design.

In most other headphones with this combination, we’ve found it doesn’t particularly work but Jabra claims the Elite 85t makes it work. The earbuds still have a traditional bud but it doesn’t sit as far in the ear canal. Oval EarGels provide a better seal.

As well as the compact and lightweight design, the Advanced ANC is adjustable along with the HearThrough mode which allows you to hear your surroundings.

Despite the compact design, the Jabra Elite 85t have large 12mm drivers as well as 3 microphones on each bud. Four are used for ANC with all six in action to offer improved call quality with wind protection.

Battery life looks to be pretty solid too with 5.5 hours on the earbuds and the case can make it a total of 25. This is all based on having ANC switched on. The case is also Qi wireless charging compatible.

Jabra is sticking with physical buttons instead of touch-sensitive and the Elite 85t have an IPX4 rating and support both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

There’s more good news for Jabra fans as anyone with a pair of 75t earbuds will be getting ANC via a software update.
